General Practice Residency (GPR)
Description of Care
The LSUHSC School of Dentistry General Practice Residency (GPR)
treats dental patients at clinics in both New Orleans
and Baton Rouge. The New Orleans clinic is located
at the dental school; the Baton Rouge clinic is located at 8343 O'Hara Ct.
Residents in the one-year GPR program are dentists who
function as part of a hospital team and gain competency
in diagnosing and rendering comprehensive and preventive
dental treatment for the medically compromised patient.

Appointments at the two GPR clinics are made by
dentist referral only. To fax a referral letter to GPR,
dentist's should indicate the patient's name, contact
number, and the specific reason for the referral. Doctors should call 504-941-8408

LSUHSC School of Dentistry
General Practice Residency fees will typically
be 1/2 to 2/3 the cost of private practice.
Before providing each patient with an estimate
of treatment costs, a thorough examination and
the necessary x-rays will be performed. With
this information, we can diagnose the case,
develop a treatment plan that helps meet the
patient's goals, and provide the patient with an
estimate of the costs involved.
