Dale Misiek is a native of Windsor Locks Connecticut and attended the University of Connecticut in Storrs graduating in 1974 with a BA in Biology.  He completed his dental training at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine receiving his DMD in 1978.  He then moved to New Orleans where he completed a 4 year residency program in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the LSU School of Dentistry in 1982.  He practiced full time in New Orleans from 1982-1984 after which he returned to LSU to serve as a full time faculty member for 14 years.  In 1998, he resigned his full time position at LSU to return to private practice in Charlotte, NC.  While in Charlotte, he maintained a part time position as clinical professor for the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and directing the resident rotation in Charlotte, NC at Atrium Health.

During Dr. Misiek’s initial tenure at the LSU School of Dentistry he participated in the full scope of scholarly activity with research, publications in textbooks and journals, and numerous presentations at national and regional meetings on the subjects of orthognathic surgery, cosmetic surgery and implant reconstruction.  He was an examiner for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from 1990-1996 and served as a section chairman for 2 years during that tenure.

Dr. Misiek continued to practice the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery in his private practice in Charlotte, NC.  Of particular interest is the utilization of human recombinant BMP for bone grafting in the maxillofacial region and the use of liposomal bupivacaine for post-operative pain control.  He has lectured at national meetings on these topics and continues to actively pursue clinical research in these areas.

Dr. Misiek retired from Private Practice in 2020 and he’s rejoined the faculty and the LSU School of Dentistry in his old position as Program Director.  He is also currently on the Board of the Jack Kent Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation, the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation, and the William F. Harrigan Society.

Dr. Misiek is married to Holly and they live with their two dogs on the northshore in Covington.  Dr. Misiek has three children and six grandchildren.
