FAQ's

How long will my clinic appointment take?

LSUHSC is a teaching institution.  As such appointments typically take longer due to the necessity of resident instruction, concomitant operating room surgeries and medical emergencies. Please allow 1-2 hours per clinic visit, although times may vary by appointment.

How long will it take to be seen by a doctor?

Though we always make every effort to see patients as quickly as possible, due to the nature of a teaching institution it may take a significant amount of time to be seen on particularly busy days.  Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to appointments to help facilitate timely seating and bring a book or electronic device to help pass the time.

What should I do if I can’t make it to my appointment?

Please give us a courtesy call to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

Who do I call for an emergency during off hours?

Our residents and attending physicians are always on call and available for emergencies.  If unable to contact the clinic, please present to the emergency room at UMC and we will be promptly paged by the physicians there.
