Application Tips for
the Program in Dental Hygiene

Please use these two check lists provided below to assist you in preparing to apply. You can record and manage your pre-requisite courses with the Pre-req. Checklist. The Admissions Checklist will help to monitor the progress of your application.

Send all information early in the admissions cycle to prevent delay of your application. Applications are open through the last business day in December, 4:00 PM CST. If you are enrolled in college during the fall semester send transcripts of all completed work and work in progress to ADEA DHCAS by the last business day in December, 4:00 PM CST. Follow up of transcripts with unreported prerequisite grades will be required for final acceptance.
In addition to your DHCAS online application, supplemental materials must be sent directly to us in order to complete your application. Please forward the following items early in the admissions process:
- $50.00 Non-refundable application fee paid online through the LSUHSC Fee Payment Portal. Your application is not complete until we receive your application fee.
- Resident Verification form.
- Passport sized photo attached to the Resident Verification form.
- Copy of your current Draft Card status (males only) you can print a copy off the internet at www.sss.gov.
- Official ACT and ATDH scores. These must be submitted to our office from ACT or ADTH. It is the student’s responsibility to contact these entities and follow all instructions provided.
Students may apply for the Dental Hygiene program before completing all prerequisite classes. However all required courses must be completed by May for the Dental Hygiene class starting in August. It is strongly recommended that applications be submitted as early in the admissions process as possible. Due to the length of time it can take to complete and verify all information through ADEA DHCAS, this provides applicants with the opportunity to address any issue along the way.
