Loyola University School of Dentistry, 1914-1971

Loyola University School of Dentistry was established in 1914 and closed in 1971. Loyola was not able to support the financial costs of a quality dental school and announced a phase-out of the school in 1966.  At the same time, Governor John McKeithen signed a bill into law to establish the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry.

            Dr. Edmund E. Jeansonne, 1965-1966
            Dr. Victor Halperin, 1966-1971 (during phase-out period)

According to the School of Dentistry Bulletin for 1919-1920,
Loyola had graduated 44 dentists by 1920.
