Dr. Vinayak M. Joshi is an associate professor in the Department of Periodontics at LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry. He brings over two decades of academic, clinical, and research experience in periodontology, with advanced training from institutions in India and the United States.
Dr. Joshi earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from KLE Institute of Dental Sciences and a Master of Dental Surgery in periodontology from Rajiv Gandhi University. He further pursued a Master of Oral Biology at Stony Brook University and completed a Master of Science and Certificate in periodontology at The Ohio State University. He also holds a PhD from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
Dr. Joshi’s clinical interests include the management of periodontal and peri-implant diseases, with a focus on minimally invasive and regenerative therapies. His research explores the intersection of systemic health and periodontal disease, with particular emphasis on the microbiome, smoking, diabetes, and obesity. He has authored over 35 peer-reviewed publications and has presented his work at numerous national and international conferences.
Dr. Joshi believes in a patient-centered approach to care—one that emphasizes education, prevention, and collaboration. He takes time to understand each patient’s unique needs and goals, and works closely with them to develop personalized treatment plans that promote long-term oral and overall health. He sees patients one day a week in the Faculty Dental Practice, providing comprehensive periodontal care.
