was named the first-ever
recipient of the LDA
Humanitarian Award. The
award recognizes dentists
who have distinguished
themselves through
outstanding dental service
activities in the United
States or abroad.

has been named the new
president of the
University of New Orleans
(UNO). A New Orleans
native and 1972 graduate
of UNO, practiced
dentistry for ten years in
the New Orleans area
before transitioning into
academic dentistry.

Robert
Barsley
DDS, JD, professor and
head of the Division of
Diagnostic Sciences in the
Department of
Comprehensive Dentistry
and Biomaterials and
director of Oral Health
Resources, Community &
Hospital Dentistry, was
recently installed as
president of the American
Academy of Forensic
Sciences (AAFS). Terry
Fugetta was
named a recipient of the
LDA Distinguished Service
Award, the highest honor
bestowed by the
association. Henry
Gremillion,
LSUSD dean, was elected to
serve a three-year term on
the ADEA Council of Deans
Administrative Board.

Johnny Hollier,
trumpeter and pianist, has
retired from dentistry to
play music full-time. His
bands, Prime Time Players
(7 players) and the Doc
Holliday Band (12
players), travel up to 125
miles from New Orleans to
play at parties, weddings,
and other events. The Doc
Holliday Band performs the
hits of entertainers such
as Frank Sinatra, Dean
Martin, Doris Day, and
Glenn Miller. His 20-piece
New Orleans Chamber
Orchestra is composed of
accomplished musicians
from the LPO, the Baton
Rouge Symphony and the
Mississippi Symphony.

OMS '84, was named
recipient of the LDA
Distinguished Service
Award. Dr. Geist received
the LSUSD 2011 Alumnus of
the Year Award. Greg
Phillips is a
contributor to the book

the day of its release,
October 6, 2011, it

Robert L. Delarosa
was inducted as
secretary-treasurer of the
American Academy of
Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD)
Board of Trustees during
the 65th Annual Session on
May 27, 2012. He has been
a member of AAPD for 25
years.

retired from LSUSD on May
1, after 31 years on the
faculty.

E. Jeffrey Hooton
was installed as Louisiana
Dental Association (LDA)
president for 2012-2013.

Bruce Green
joined the Navy in 2001,
and continues to serve on
active duty. He attended
the Naval Postgraduate
Dental School in Bethesda,
MD from 2004-2006,
receiving a certificate in
comprehensive dentistry,
and a Master of Science in
Health Sciences from The
George Washington
University. He currently
holds the rank of
Commander, and is assigned
as the Senior Dental
Officer to the Joint
Medical Group, Joint Task
force, Guantanamo Bay,
Cuba. He has formerly
served with the Marines in
Okinawa and Iraq. He and
his wife Jodie will
celebrate 34 years of
marriage in August 2012,
shortly after which he
will report to the U.S.S.
Eisenhower (CVN 69) as the
Dental Department Head.
Bruce and Jodie's son
Matthew, and
daughter-in-law Cherie
have blessed them with a
(wonderful!) grandson,
Oliver.
