ISI Web of Knowledge Workshops The LSUHSC Libraries are once again sponsoring classes in the three ISI Web of Knowledge databases: Web of Science (WOS), Current Contents Connect (CCC), and Journal Citation Reports (JCR). The classes will be taught at both the Isché and Dental Libraries on December 2 and 3, as follows:
A unique feature of the Web of Science is cited reference searching, which allows you to see a bibliographic list of references cited in a paper, and also the list of later references that cite the paper. Current Contents Connect is a current awareness resource, providing access to bibliographic information of over 4100 scholarly journals in the life sciences, clinical medicine, and social & behavioral sciences. Journal Citation Reports allows you to evaluate and compare scholarly journals. For a more detailed description of these databases, see the Library Explorer, Spring 2002. To sign up for any of the above
classes, call Carolyn Bridgewater, reference librarian at the Isché
Library, at 568-6102. The SGA
recently raised over $280.00 through the sale of used books that had
been donated to the dental library. These titles were not added to
the library collection because they were
already in the library, were too old to add, or were outside of
the scope of the collection. Students and faculty members took
advantage of the low prices ($1.00 to $.25) to pick up volumes for their private collections.
Because the SGA donates over
$200.00 each year to the library for the purchase of 11 magazine
subscriptions for the popular browsing collection, we are glad to have
this opportunity to contribute to their treasury. Library Requests Missing Journal Issues The following issues were either never received or have disappeared from the library. We would appreciate any donations of these issues so that we can complete the volumes for binding.
