Students
have the opportunity
to participate in
research with basic-
and or clinical-science
faculty. Dr. Janet Leigh serves as
coordinator of student
research, providing
guidance and support
for student research
activities within
the LSU Health Sciences
Center School of
Dentistry. There
is a procedure for
submitting, and format
for writing research
proposals, that can
be obtained from
the school's Office
of Research (Room
7329). The Research
and Grants Committee
award available student
research funding
after review and
approval. Students
are eligible for
up to $3000 to conduct
the project and may
be eligible for a
stipend. Students
are encouraged to
present their research
findings at national
meetings, such as
the International
Association for Dental
Research annual meeting.
There is also a student
research group sponsored
by the New Orleans
Section of the American
Association of Dental
Research; Dr. Leigh
is the faculty advisor.
