Stipends & Tuition

Stipends

Stipends are not currently available for postgraduate students in Endodontics for the first year of the program. Stipends may be awarded in the second and/or third years of the program. Stipends are awarded based on availability and at the discretion of the faculty with approval of the Advanced Education Committee and the Dean of the School of Dentistry.

Students enrolled in the Orthodontic and Prosthodontic programs are paid stipends of $3,780 the first year, $5,040 the second year, and the third year varies.

Students enrolled in the Pediatric Dentistry program are paid a stipend of $11,000 the first year and $16,650 the second year.

Students enrolled in the General Dentistry and Oral Medicine Residency Programs receive a basic annual stipend of $36,413 the first year and $37,384 the second year.

Students enrolled in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program receive $36,413 the first year, $37,484 the second year, $38,852 the third year, and $40,422 the fourth year.

These are the stipend amounts for the above programs for 2002-2003 year. They are subject to revisions by the Louisiana State University administration.

Tuition And Fees

The University fee for residents of Louisiana is $4,054.00 for the year. Nonresidents pay an additional $3,125 for the year. For those accepted candidates who have been offered postgraduate stipends, the university fee will be waived, and students will be required to pay the annual activity fee of $312.50. Students are also required to carry hospitalization insurance. If the student has alternate insurance coverage from other resources, the student must sign a waiver. The restricted license fee for postgraduate students who do not have a Louisiana license is $200.00 per year. Oral and maxillofacial surgery and general practice residency programs are exempted from the tuition and activity fee.

The listed tuition and fees are for the 2005-2006 academic year. They are subject to revision by the Louisiana State University administration.
