Master
of Science in Oral
Biology
Overview
This program allows
students already
enrolled in an advanced
dental education
program as well as
individuals who have
a specialized interest
in dentistry of the
allied dental sciences
to earn the degree,
Master of Science
in Oral Biology.
This program is offered
through the LSU Health
Sciences Center School
of Graduate Studies
in New Orleans and
administered by the
LSU Health Sciences
Center School of
Dentistry and the
Center of Excellence
in Oral and Craniofacial
Biology.
The Master of Science
Program in Oral Biology
is an option of students
with superior academic
records and research
potential. The criteria
for admission to
the LSU Health Sciences
Center School of
Graduate Studies
must be met. A minimum
score of 1,000 on
the Graduate Record
Examination (GRE) (combined
verbal and quanitative)
is required. Students
must have earned
a Bachelor of Science
degree, D.D.S. or
D.M.D. degree or
equivalent from an
accredited program.
The program can be
tailored to the requirement
of individual students.
Each student must form a thesis committee to
assist in the development of their individual
research. Curriculum design
and course selection
must be approved
by the student's
committee using the
following guidelines.
The minimum requirement
is 33 semester hours
of graduate work
