Crawford-McKendall Joins Pediatric Dentistry

Rosalynn Crawford-McKendall, DDS, has been appointed assistant professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the LSU School of Dentistry.

Dr. Crawford-McKendall, a native of Boligee, Alabama, graduated magna cum laude in 1994 from Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi with a bachelor of science in biology. In 1998 she received her DDS from New York University (NYU) College of Dentistry. She received a general practice residency certificate two years later from Bronx Lebanon Hospital and completed certification in pediatric dentistry from NYU in 2005.

Prior to coming to LSUSD, she was a clinical assistant professor in the Pediatric Dentistry Department of NYU College of Dentistry. She has practiced dentistry for ten years, including private practice in New Jersey and public health dentistry in Maryland.

The announcement of Dr. Crawford-McKendall's appointment was made by Dr. Janice Townsend, interim chair of the department. "She has a unique combination of experiences that includes private practice, public health, and academic training," said Townsend. "She's even taught predoctoral students in a mobile dental van, which is challenging. I have enjoyed learning her perspective on motivating the dental students while watching her cover the clinic."
