Two National Scholarship Recipients at LSUSD

Third-year dental student Eun-Chee Lee was one of 12 dental students selected nationally for the 2013 ADEA/Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products Preventive Dentistry Scholarship in the amount of $2,500. The purpose of the scholarship is to support predoctoral dental students who have demonstrated academic excellence in preventive dentistry.

Eligibility requirements included:
--A strong interest in preventive dentistry through personal activities and achievements
--Possess a superior academic record.
--Applicants were required to submit an essay on the insights the student gained from achievements and activities (research, community service, and program development) in preventive dentistry.

Second-year dental student Ariel Brown was one of 25 dental students selected nationally for the 2013 ADA Foundation Dental Student Scholarship Award in the amount of $2,500. The purpose of the scholarship is to help predoctoral dental students defray a part of their professional education expenses. The goal of this program is to facilitate the education of academically gifted dental students. Each dental school was allowed to submit 2 applications.

Eligibility requirements include:
--Be in the second year of study
--Possess a superior academic record
--Submit a biographical sketch
