Ovid
Connect to Ovid for searching MEDLINE (1966 to current),
MEDLINEŽ In-Process & Other Non-Indexed Citations, Current Index to
Nursing & Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), Health & Psychosocial Instruments, Mental Measurements
Yearbook, and Journals@Ovid Full Text. Ovid requires LSUHSC NT account and password.

National
Library of Medicine (NLM) Databases
- PUBMED,
a free MEDLINE service from the National Library of
Medicine. Features of PubMed include sets of related articles for each
article cited in MEDLINE, links to participating publishers' sites for
full-text journals, and links to molecular biology databases of
DNA/protein sequences and 3-D structure data. Document delivery via
Loansome Doc is also a feature of PubMed.

LinkOut
in Pubmed provides direct access to LSUHSC Library
electronic journals. Not all electronic subscriptions are available
(although better than half are) and e-access is limited to LSUHSC
domain computers

- NLM
GATEWAY presents
a single interface that lets users search in multiple retrieval
systems. The current Gateway searches MEDLINE/PubMed, LOCATORplus,
MEDLINEplus, ClinicalTrials.gov, DIRLINE, Meeting Abstracts,
and HSRProj.
- MEDLINEplus
is a directory of evaluated
Web sites arranged by disease, condition, or wellness issue.
It also includes a
compendium of drug
information provided by the U.S. Pharmacopeia in USP Dispensing
Information, volume 2: Advice for the Patient.
- LOCATORplus
is the catalog of books, journals, and audiovisual materials in
the National Library of Medicine.
- CLINICALTRIALS.gov
from the National Institutes of Health
- PUBMED
CENTRAL is
a digital archive of life sciences journal literature
managed by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI)
at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM). Access to PubMed Central
(PMC) is free and unrestricted.
- TOXNET
is a cluster of databases on toxicology and hazardous chemicals.
- HOUSEHOLD
PRODUCTS DATABASE health & safety information on
household products
- DIRLINE
is a directory of health organizations.
- CLINICAL
ALERTS & ADVISORIES. Clinical alerts are provided to
expedite the release of findings from the NIH-funded clinical trials
where such release could significantly affect morbidity and
mortality.
- HEALTH
SERVICES & SCIENCES RESEARCH RESOURCES contains
descriptions of about 300 research datasets, over 55
instruments/indices, and more than 20 software applications used in
health services research and in the behavioral and social sciences.
These research-oriented tools may be used to assess data variables
and data collection methodologies.
- List
of Serials Indexed for Online Users pdf format
MDConsult
provides access to full-text
textbooks and journals in clinical medicine.
Cochrane
Library
"The best single
source of reliable evidence about the effects of health care.
" It includes the Cochrane Database of Systematic
Reviews, Database of Abstracts and Reviews of Effectiveness,
Cochrane Controlled Trials Register, Cochrane Methodology Register, and
Cochrane Collaboration. ID & password are not required. Available
only in New Orleans.
