Update on Library Services
The Dental Library, located in Building 3005, Room 104, on South Campus, now houses over 200 dental monographs, many of which have been published since 2005.  To see the list of books received since Fall 2006, go to Recent Acquisitions in this issue; previous new additions to the library collection since Katrina are listed in the Summer 2006 Library Explorer.

Don't forget that the library also subscribes to electronic journals, databases, and books.  All electronic (as well as print) books and journals are listed in the library catalog (Innopac) where you can find links to the online version.  Databases are also listed in Innopac as well as in a comprehensive list of databases and search systems under Electronic Resources.  Until we return to the school in New Orleans, all access is remote or off-campus, requiring login with a library patron barcode and PIN.  Contact the dental librarians if you need a barcode, have forgotten your PIN, or have any questions about using WAM.

PubMed Search Tips: Accessing Full-Text Articles
In order to search PubMed and see links to free full-text through LSUHSC library subscriptions, you must go to PubMed via links on the dental library homepage.  One link is found under Databases and the other is located directly under the search box near the top of the page.  These  links take you to a screen where you then select on-campus or off-campus access.  When you select off-campus, you next see the Web Access Management (WAM) screen, which requires login with your name, library patron barcode and PIN.  After you complete your search in PubMed and retrieve a list of articles, click on the authors' names of your selected articles.  You'll see one, two, or three icons below the journal title.  The LSUHSC Libraries icon in the example below indicates that there is free full-text.

The two icons indicate that this article is available online.  Click on either the publisher or the LSUHSC icon to link to the article.

If you see the LSUHSC Libraries Print Collection icon by itself, free full-text is not available through PubMed.  This icon will take you to the journal entry in the library catalog (Innopac) where you can check library holdings.  PubMed is not an authoritative record of our online subscriptions so you should check the Innopac record for the journal because you will often find a link to full-text here that does not appear in PubMed.
