Please contact Zerita Dupre, 941-8158, to reserve the room for your group.

Locally Created Databases
Library staff have created several databases of interest to the LSUSD community.  These include LSUSD Faculty Publications,  Dental Materials Reviews and Equipment, and the Dental Clippings File.  Formerly located in Reference Web Poster, these databases are now hosted on RefShare. A link to Locally Created Databases is on the dental library home page.
Just click on the desired database and you can browse the entries or search for specific terms or names via RefShare.

For Dental Materials Reviews, Julie Schiavo indexes articles from publications not indexed in MEDLINE, so you can find evaluations and reviews of specific products.  The Dental Clippings File is an index of newspaper articles on the history of LSUSD.  The actual articles are filed by date in the library workroom.  The LSUSD Faculty Publications databases include citations to journal articles, books and book chapters, and selected meeting abstracts.

Donations to the Library
The Northeast Louisiana Dental Association has made a donation to the dental library in memory of Dr. Jerry Johnston, a Ruston dentist who passed away in February.  The library purchased the 3rd edition of Contemporary Implant Dentistry by Carl Misch with these funds.

Dr. William Pelon, long-time professor of Microbiology, Immunology and Parasitology, passed away in 2005.  In his will, he left endowed donations to numerous LSUHSC entities including $125,000 to the Dental School Library and $100,000 to the Isché Medical Library. The endowed principal remains intact while the interest will be available annually to support library activities.  Dr. Pelon, who is fondly remembered by many dental school faculty and alumni, was an avid library user and his gift will be a lasting reminder of his spirit, kindness, and generosity.
